Rantings and ravings. Just think of it as Sunday afternoon with the in-laws, or the eccentric grandmother. Good times had by all. Except me..because I always seem upset in my blog posts..hm.

the humanity!

women in a world perspective is proving to be the start of a looooong semester.
boy says women are greedy for wanting career and family.
girl says feminism isn't just about a women's power struggle. it's about equality as a whole.
second boy pipes up and asks what the difference is, then, between feminism and communism.
okay. let's consider their backgrounds. boy one is...not sure. girl is a gender studies major. not a women's gender studies major, but a gender studies major. second boy is a business major. i sense a cold shoulder turned by the businessmen of america on the would-be mothers of america. like i said...
THE HUMANITY!!
p.s. i'm greedy.

Nicole,

There has always been a struggle between the business world and working mothers. A study was just done that says that people are more willing to hire/give raises/promote/respect a man (single or married) than they are a woman. He is seen as the breadwinner. The woman on the other hand is considered a burden to the company b/c time off needed to take care of kids, etc. As far as communism goes, I don't agree. Communism is a tool used to oppress people and it creates a feeling of mediocrity. Femenism doesn't do either. That was just a stupid comparison.

"Anyone who knows anything of history knows that great social changes are impossible without feminine upheaval. Social progress can be measured exactly by the social position of the fair sex, the ugly ones included." -Karl Marx
